Enqbator Partner Receives NIDA Award for Opioid Craving App Prototype
Troy, Michigan – Longtime Enqbator partner, The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), was recently honored with a financial award from the National Institute for Drug Abuse (NIDA).
As part of the 2022 NIDA “Product Prototypes to Combat Drug Craving” Challenge, the team at UAMS was recognized for their work on the competition submission titled “OptiMAT: A smartphone application to decrease opioid cravings, and Optimize MAT, for opioid use disorders.” OptiMAT stands for Optimizing Medication Assisted Treatment.
The design, development and UX teams at Enqbator worked closely with the researchers at UAMS to create an effective, easy-to-use mobile application, with the user experience given the highest level of importance. This revolutionary mobile app also utilizes the power of the Progress Sitefinity DX platform to help manage and drive content and produce important metrics and reports.
Collaborating with UAMS team members Andrew James, Ph.D., Ronald G. Thompson, Ph.D., and Mary Bollinger, Ph.D., Enqbator was able to help create an app that not only provides a successful path to healing for its users, but also provides a wealth of data for its administrators.
OptiMAT’s features include self-monitoring of daily opioid use, opioid craving, and mood; personalized feedback on goal attainment; charts generated to depict self assessments over time; health information and abstinence-supporting resources; tips to manage craving and avoid opioid misuse; and a GPS-driven “just-in-time” intervention when entering predesignated geographical areas known to increase risk for opioid use.
According to NIDA, the Challenge goal was to solicit working prototypes of multifaceted products that will help with drug craving in people who experience substance use problems or with substance use disorder (SUD).
NIDA’s goal for the challenge was also to inspire many different product prototypes to help people address their drug cravings and prevent recurrence of drug use.
