How Enqbator Built a Multi-Agent AI System for Sitefinity Content Publishing

Published · Updated

Most organizations treat AI like a sophisticated search engine you ask it something, it gives you something back, and then a human takes over from there.

That's a reasonable starting point. But it's not where we stopped.

At Enqbator, we built a system where AI agents don't just respond to prompts they collaborate toward a shared outcome. The result is a production-ready, multi-agent AI architecture that researches topics, writes content, refines tone, generates visuals, and publishes directly into Sitefinity. Not one step at a time. In parallel.

This isn't a proof of concept. It's running in production.

Why the Traditional Prompt-and-Paste Workflow Doesn't Scale

The way most teams use AI today looks something like this: ask a question, get a draft, edit it manually, then copy and paste into the CMS. Repeat for every piece of content.

That works fine at low volume. The problem is that content demand rarely stays low for long and the manual handoffs between AI output and human publishing create a ceiling that's hard to push through.

We wanted to remove that ceiling entirely.

Instead of treating AI as a drafting assistant, we designed a system where multiple AI agents, each with a distinct role, work together toward a shared publishing goal. Less like a single freelancer you ping for a first draft. More like a content team that already knows what needs to happen and gets it done.

The Architecture: Six Agents, One Coordinated System

Our multi-agent system is built around clear role separation. Each agent owns a specific part of the workflow:

Trend Hunter Agent:  Scans for relevant topics, emerging signals, and keyword opportunities worth targeting.

Content Strategist Agent: Determines the angle, defines audience intent, and maps out the content structure before writing begins.

Blog Writer Agent:  Produces the initial draft, grounded in the strategy and calibrated to match brand voice.

Brand Voice Agent: Tightens the prose, smooths out mechanical patterns, and makes sure the content reads the way a real person would actually write it.

Image Creator Agent: Generates supporting visuals designed to complement the written content and improve engagement.

Sitefinity Publisher Agent:  Connects directly to Sitefinity through its API, creates structured content entries, and handles the actual publishing step.

What makes this more than a fancy workflow is how these agents operate. Where possible, they run in parallel,  which means bottlenecks that would normally slow down a linear process get compressed or eliminated altogether.

Built-In Draft Approval, Not Blind Automation

One of the most important design decisions we made was this:

AI does not bypass humans. It prepares work for them.

As the agents collaborate, the system automatically generates a fully structured draft inside Sitefinity, complete with:

  • Title and SEO metadata

  • URL structure

  • Taxonomy and tagging

  • Formatted content blocks

  • Supporting visuals

But instead of publishing immediately, the content enters a draft state for review and approval.

This means:

  • Marketing teams stay in control

  • Compliance and brand standards are maintained

  • Edits can be made directly within Sitefinity

  • Approval workflows remain intact

In other words, AI removes the heavy lifting, not the oversight.

The result is a system where:

  • AI handles creation and preparation

  • Humans handle judgment and approval

That balance is what makes this viable in real-world, enterprise environments.

So the system doesn’t just generate content, it creates publish-ready drafts inside Sitefinity, ready for human approval.

Why Sitefinity Is Central to This Approach

Sitefinity is a capable digital experience platform. But like most enterprise CMS platforms, the content publishing process still requires a lot of human intervention,  formatting, metadata entry, taxonomy tagging, URL configuration, and more.

We integrated AI directly into that pipeline.

The practical effect is that content doesn't just get written,  it arrives in Sitefinity already structured for CMS ingestion. Metadata can be automated. Taxonomy gets applied. Publishing can be triggered programmatically based on defined conditions.

What used to be an episodic, manual process becomes something closer to a continuous publishing operation. Sitefinity stops being a place where content lands and starts functioning as an active, AI-connected publishing engine.

The Part That Actually Moves the Needle: Parallel Execution

Sequential AI workflows still carry most of the overhead of traditional content production. You wait for research before strategy can begin. You wait for strategy before writing starts. You wait for editing before anything gets published.

We designed the workflow to eliminate that waiting.

In our system, research informs strategy in real time rather than handing off and stepping back. Writing begins before research is fully wrapped. Humanization runs alongside content generation. Publishing prep happens while refinement is still in progress.

The result isn't just faster output,  it's a fundamentally different production model. The difference between a linear assembly line, where each station waits on the one before it, and a coordinated team where everyone moves at once.

What This Means in Practice

For organizations running this system, the implications are tangible:

High-quality blog content can be produced at a volume that would otherwise require a much larger team. Brand voice stays consistent across outputs because it's baked into the agent instructions rather than relying on individual writers to remember guidelines. Manual CMS work gets automated. And because the system monitors trends continuously, content teams can respond faster than competitors who are still waiting for someone to write a brief.

Perhaps most importantly: smaller teams can now operate with the output capacity of larger ones. Content stops being something you produce when bandwidth allows and becomes something you maintain as an ongoing capability.

Where Most Teams Are and Where This Is Headed

There's a useful way to think about where organizations sit on the AI adoption curve:

Prompting → Tools → Workflows → Multi-Agent Systems → Proactive AI

Most marketing teams are still at stage one or two. They've got AI writing assistants. Maybe some workflow automation. But the systems aren't yet making decisions or coordinating toward goals on their own.

Multi-agent orchestration is stage four. And the jump from stage two to stage four is not incremental, it's architectural.

The next phase beyond that is proactive AI: systems that monitor performance data, identify content gaps, generate and publish without being explicitly asked, and optimize based on what's actually working. We're already exploring what that looks like in practice.

Enqbator's Approach

We don't treat AI as a feature to bolt onto existing workflows. We use it to rethink how the work gets done in the first place.

Our expertise spans AI strategy and agent orchestration, Sitefinity architecture and API integration, and UX and content experience design. The multi-agent content system described here sits at the intersection of all three, which is what makes it work as a production system rather than a demo.

"The real power of AI isn't in generating content… it's in orchestrating intelligence. When you move from isolated prompts to coordinated systems, you're no longer using AI as a tool. You're building a capability. That's where transformation actually begins."

— Jon Montenegro, Enqbator

The Real Question Has Changed

For a long time, the conversation around AI and content was focused on whether AI could write something useful. That question is settled.

The more important question now is whether organizations can build the systems that let content create itself,  not just occasionally, and not just when someone has time to prompt it, but strategically, continuously, and at scale.

That's the problem we're solving.
